Two dead after car fleeing officers crashes into another vehicle: police

Metro Vancouver Transit Police say the incident occurred Tuesday after 11 p.m. in New Westminster.They say in a news release officers attempted a traffic stop on a car that allegedly fled at high speed, and the vehicle was soon found in flames after crashing into another car.The statement says the driver and passenger of the fleeing vehicle were arrested at the scene, while two occupants of the other vehicle were taken to hospital, where they died from their injuries. Police say they’re recommending charges of prohibited driving, dangerous driving causing death and flight from police. The RCMP’s serious crimes unit is investigating and the Independent Investigations Office, which looks into any incident of serious harm or death that may involve police, has been notified.
