The two teams faced each other in the framework of the qualifiers for the Champions League. When Vitaliy Buyalski of Dynamo Kyiv opened the scoring in this second leg, their opponents’ supporters began to chant “

These chants were condemned by the coach of Dynamo Kyiv. “Everything went as planned during the match, but we did not expect such cries from the from the supporters. It’s unfortunate “, reacted Mircea Lucescu at the end of the match.

Turkey, intermediary of Russia and Ukraine in the conflict

The Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey also expressed his anger. “Football is a fair game. Dynamo kyiv was stronger last night. It is very sad to hear words from Fenerbahçe supporters that support the murderer and the aggressor who is bombarding our country” , wrote in Turkish on Twitter Vasyl Bodnar.

« Disgusting “, ” tasteless “, ” embarrassing

”… On social networks, Internet users have castigated the attitude of Turkish supporters. Fenerbahçe coach Jorge Jesus, despite a long statement, did not speak on the subject.

The slogan did not disturb the club’s players, however. Ukrainians, who won the match 2-1 thanks to a second goal from Karavayev in extra time. A small feat, when it was Dynamo’s first official match for eight months. For their next game in the third round of the qualifiers, they will face Sturm Graz (Austria).

Turkey’s position in the war between Russia and Ukraine is strategic. Ankara has chosen neutrality and is trying to impose itself at the center of the diplomatic chessboard in the conflict. Turkey has notably hosted several meetings within the framework of the peace talks between the two countries. More recently, it was in Istanbul that the texts for the resumption of Ukrainian wheat exports were signed.
