Cristiano Ronaldo has been benched—briefly, at the very least.

The soccer star was dropped from Portugal’s beginning lineup on Dec. 6 forward of their World Cup recreation in opposition to Switzerland. As an alternative, Ronaldo, 37, was changed on the lineup by teammate Goncalo Ramos, who scored through the first half of the sport.

FOX—who’s airing the World Cup—reported throughout its broadcast that Portugal coach Fernando Santos known as the choice a “tactical” one and never a “disciplinary” transfer.

This lineup change comes simply days after Ronaldo seemingly disapproved of being substituted out of his staff’s match in opposition to South Korea on Dec. 2, showing to say that Santos was in a “rush” to get him out.

Ronaldo’s frustration was later addressed by Coach Santos. “I did not hear something. I used to be too far, and that is why I solely noticed him arguing with a South Korean participant, and nothing else,” Santos—referring to Ronaldo’s trade with participant Cho Gue-Sung—instructed reporters, by way of ESPN. “Have I already watched the footage? Sure. I did not prefer it. Did not prefer it in any respect.”
