Ina bought the shop in 1996 (by then she had moved it to a bigger location in East Hampton), crediting its success to the festive ambiance she created from day one with upbeat music at all times enjoying, complimentary espresso and many goodies for her clients to pattern. Armed with a well-heeled clientele, plenty of good buzz and a savvy publicist, her 1999 publishing debut, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, was a success.
